Excellent condition camper with rare features is ready for the next adventure!

This is a rare find in exceptional condition with some rare features as mentioned in the consignor's comments below:

"I feel the time has come to pass on my 1968 Volkswagen “Kombi” camper. I have had him for over twenty years. I am not driving it as much as I used to. I feel it is time to pass the torch on.

I am the third owner of “Ralph”. The first owner was in the military in Europe when it was purchased. The van was shipped to California and put into a garage. Every year was taken to Yellowstone on a camping trip and put back into the garage afterwards. The second owner had the van for several years. He traveled around the country, went to all the “Dead” shows and enjoyed camping along the way. And then it was mine. I enjoyed my late-night drives and Sunday afternoon picnics overlooking the mountains of Colorado. Ralph returned to the California coastline this last summer. He has enjoyed going to the beach parking lots to be looked at and admired. He has been my “casita” at the beach.

“Ralph” is not as temperamental as most vintage Volkswagen's can be. He has always started after a few pumps on the gas pedal after a long cold winter in Colorado and has never left me stranded. He has been maintained by all his owners with regular tune-ups and oil changes even when they were not needed. He has been loved and cherished by his owners.

This bus was made for the European market not for the United States. Everything on this bus is original. Some of the unique features are a portable radio on the dash, and a gas operational Eberspacher heater that was designed for the European market. It heats the cabin using gasoline. I have not used the heater for several years and just had it disconnected. There are no rips or tears in any of the original seats. The interior of the van is in great condition. The original screens are in perfect condition. The original manuals are still in the glove compartment.

Things not so perfect. The original radio was replaced with a “Blaupunkt” with speakers. The sink area counter has some deterioration due to age and sun. The bus has the original curtains. They are frayed due to the sun. I have not had the heart to replace them. The driver's door lock can sometimes not unlock, and California sea air has started to show some age spots. The milage is 112,000."
